No more talking - Let’s dance - How I fell in love with Damon Salvatore

ian.jpg

Although I can count myself to those people who have been able to secure best seat tickets for the premiere of “New Moon” it is not  Edward Cullen who keeps me dreaming and fantasizing nowadays but it is his vampire colleague Mr Damon Salvatore played by Ian Somerhalder in the CW’s “Vampire Diaries“ Ever since his dance with Vicky two episodes ago I haven’t been able to get him out of my head. He is so hot and I can totally see the good in him hidden behind all that evil and yes - he killed Stefan’s best friend Lexie tonight but he did that in order to lead the authorities away from him and Stefan. I’m not saying it’s not a shame. Lexie brought a new dynamic into the show. For one - she was totally able to kick Damon’s ass - which was hot. Stefan was laughing for a change and she sort of helped Elena put things into perspective with her and Stefan loving each other and all.  Did I mention that he is so hot?? The thing is I never heard of the actor before Vampire Diaries. I knew he played in “Lost” but I never saw that and he didn’t seem to be that well-known. This week while my mother was attaching new shelves to my wall I paused last week’s episode where Elena comes to ask Stefan about Vicky and Damon gets the door. I just stared at his face for an hour or so. And the dance scene with Vicky - watched that like 80 times and made my friends watch it - even those who don’t even watch the show. I also bought both the original Depeche Mode version of “Enjoy the silence” as well as the cover by Anberlin on Itunes. Yeah I know I’m crazy that way. The Damon/Vicky dance scene was the hottest thing I have seen on TV in a long long time. Seriously. I was a little bummed that they killed Vicky off. It sort of annoys me that they keep killing off hot young vampire girls. What’s the female name for vampire? Vampirette? Hm.  It’s time for some sexual tension involving Damon. I could see that happen with Vicky but I was denied that pleasure. I’m even beginning to hope that Damon might hook up with Elena. They have some serious on-screen chemistry but as he said himself in this week’s episode her self-righteousness and her preference of Stefan seem to come in the way of that. Well I’ll just keep staring at my screen shot or watch this week’s hot episode again.

Let’s stay on the topic of hotness shall we. While I’m not specifically invested in the character of Alex Kurev on Greys Anatomy - I like him but thats that - it was so hot to see him cradling that prematurely born baby without his shirt. Sitting there all night without his shirt. Sooo cute and really hot. When Bailey mentioned that she could see him specializing in peds I recalled that he had always had a thing for peds. Remember when Addison was still running that department. I recall him being there almost all the time.  While we’re talking Greys - I’m wondering what they have in stock for Mere. I mean she’s been lying in various beds for some time now and she’s getting better and bigger as she mentioned today so where will she go once she’s on maternity leave. She might be going to a health resort possibly even together with her father. Haven’t heard how he’s doing in a while. Apart from Kurev’s hotness the episode today was fine. Not the best there’s been this season but fine. I totally felt for Christina when she performed the surgical procedure on that girl’s heart - the mushroom smoking off the roof falling girl with the 50 fractures.. She must be so frustrated sometimes not being able to perform cardiologic surgeries they way she did when working with Burke. And to still confront Hunt and apologize for overstepping was pretty big of her. I’m sort of torn when it comes to Hunt.  I know there’s a whole community of Owen/Christina lovers out there but I must confess that I don’t really like him that much. Can’t explain it. It’s just the way it is. I even hoped that Christina would make out with that Ex Mercy West doc - the one with the gorgeous eyes - but she didn’t since she obviously likes Hunt more than I do.

But I must say - nowadays my love rests safely with with one Damon Salvatore…

True Blood - Truly Fabulous

 True Blood

Hello - In times where one is overwhelmed by devastating news as soon as one turns on the computer or the TV I find even more comfort in my tv shows… and swimming. Unfortunately most of the shows are on Hiatus and won’t start until the Fall which on the other hand is a season I am not anticipating since Fall means the farewell of Summer and the return of winter. Of course winter this year means “New Moon” which is the highlight of my year - and yes I know I have strange highlights but well. Speaking of “New Moon”. While I really liked the first official Trailer and am still watching it on regular basis followed by embarassing joyful gestures when no one can see me…I was quite taken by how much the Movie “The Golden Compass” sucked. It was one of the few movies I turned off after a while. But I guess it had to do with the storyline and not so much with the directing. Instead I rewatched the “Sex and the City “Movie after a Marathon session of rewatching (once again) all 6 seasons of the Show.

But now to “True Blood” - Monday’s episode  called “Scratches” was awesome. Sookie almost died when she was attacked by a dragon-like creature who marked her with huge scratches. Bill brought her to Eric who called his funny but obviously competent dwarf docter who then saved Sookie. I find that Eric “Vampire sherif”  kinda sexy and I think his scenes with Sookie are excellent. I loved how she slapped him in front of Bill who wasn’t really any help up to that point. In my opinion Sookie Stackhouse’s a.k.a Anna Paquin’s attitude especially when dealing with Bill and his vampire friends almost always borders on becoming annoying but up till now manages to stay on the side of beeing highly entertaining.  Like when she finds out that Eric’s been keeping Lavayette in that dungeon and she confront’s Bill (who’s totally unaware) “You better not have anything to do with that” Loved how she glared at him there. I’m not sure why but the second time I watched this episode it was a little more spooky.

Why exactly is Sam leaving and where to? Well we’ll see if he’s going anywhere after Daphne with the Dragon scratch marks on her back joined him in that lake. Speaking of that lake - I would never ever jump into that lake. I don’t want to know what kind of animals live in it. But on the other hand it seems obvious that people in that town have a higher tolerance for unusual or scary stuff -  with them cohabitating with Vampires, Dragon-like creatures and shapeshifters and all… So swimming in scary illuminated green lakes in secluded parts of the woods seems not to be that big of a deal…And don’t even get me started on Maryann’s party. How scary was it when the party guests’ eyes turned black. At least Tara is finally getting suspicious. No news on her moving together with Sookie though. But well Sookie was kinda busy fighting off dragon-like creatures and trying to survive their scratches and all…

And of course I have to mention Jessica. At first I had my doubts but she’s really grown on me. And now that she’s found herself a boyfriend maybe she’ll be less confused and anxious. She really is sort of funny and she’s got her heart at the right place and I loved how she said she would die of embarassement if she wasn’t already dead (when Hoyt kissed her and her fangs appeared).

All in all everyting about “True Blood” is excellent and I can’t wait until the next episode!!!

Can’t wait for Harry Potter

It’s Monday and I would like to trade my car for a new C30 Volvo and yes the car did come to my attention when watching Twilight for the first time and no I don’t just want it because Edward has one in the movie. It just is such an elegant and fast little car and I would speed through the city not caring about the other cars or the police arresting me. My friend recently commented that I am the only one of her friends that would buy a car just because it had looked good when being driven by a vampire in a movie. I think she’s exaggerating just a little but :-)

Ellen Pompeo PregnantHave you seen the newest Harry Potter trailer? I have and it is just so awesome. I must admit with all this Twilight hype going on my excitement about the new Harry Potter movie in July wasn’t really at its peak yet but when I watched the trailer everything came back. And boy there seem to be some really great scenes although I couldn’t quite assign half of the scenes on the trailer to the respective part in the book. I can’t wait to see all the characters back in action. I think I should read the books though and watch all the movies just to be prepared. Such an exciting time!

I’ve been watching The Tudors on Showtime and is it just me or does anyone else not get what’s happening with those riots and all those people demonstrating against King Henry? I’m feeling a little stupid and perhaps should watch it all over. The second episode of the season reminded me a little of my history lessons back in school. I always tried to pay attention and then I usually caught myself thinking about what I was going to watch on TV that night and what I was going to eat while watching TV and so on. That was sort of what happened with The Tudors. I really like the scenes with Henry and his wife because I like the actress that plays Queen Jane - I think her name is Annabelle Walis - and I thought Jonathan Rhys Meyers looked really sexy lying on his bed with that wound on his leg. Here also I do not have the slightest idea what that is and how he got it. Must have missed it. But still - can’t wait to watch the recorded third episode tonight.

And some more news of the day: Ellen Pompeo is pregnant. It should be interesting how they work her pregnancy into the show. As long as she stays on the show I’m good. You never know with Greys…

Have a good one.

In my Dream

Stewart Pattinson Hardwicke

Finally Friday. A short week is coming to an end. I had the best dream. I was hanging out with my friends and there was this castle and we were all dancing somewhere inside of it when the sister of my friend just picked up this guy for me. He was totally perfect and we spent the whole day together and I’ve never seen his face before. It was sort of magical. But at least now I know how he looks like when I see him… And no I’ve not seen another episode of The Tudors and therefore am dreaming of castles and I also do not see any connection between my dream and the novels of The Black Dagger Brotherhood I am presently reading. This was purely coincidental and a premonition so to speak. I saw on the Specials part of the Twilight DVD that Stephenie Meyer had a dream of the characters that later turned out to be Edward and Bella lying on the meadow and that was what gave her the impulse to write Twilight. Quoting her on her homepage: ” I woke up (on that June 2nd) from a very vivid dream. In my dream, two people were having an intense conversation in a meadow in the woods. One of these people was just your average girl. The other person was fantastically beautiful, sparkly, and a vampire…” She began writing the chapter where they spend the day on the meadow and then wrote the first part about how they got there and then the second part about what happened then. And look how it turned out: Four successful books (with Midnight Sun hopefully five) and one Blockbuster Movie with New Moon on the way. This just to clarify what meanings a dream can have. I will now keep my eyes open especially in the proximity of castles or similar buildings which so numerously can be found in my city. Just kidding of course but it sure is incredible how real some dreams can seem.

Back to Twilight. With New Moon now fully in the works I checked out Chris Weitz’s profile on www.imdb.com. Check it out here. I must say I consider myself relatively open when it comes to new directors that direct one movie out of a series. I liked some of the Harry Potter movies more and some less. You could always clearly recognise the handprint of the director behind the movie. I liked the fifth movie the best by the way.I know there are a lot of people that criticize Catherine Hardwicke’s adaptation of the movie but then again criticizing is always easy. I think she did a great job and after having seen the extras on the DVD I must say that she seemed very committed to the story and wanted to get it right and also it didn’t seem as if she expected not to be doing New Moon afterwards. I hear and I am not certain that this was the real reason she’s not doing New Moon that she wanted more time for pre production i.e. adjusting the screenplay and for the challenges particularly connected to this second part of the saga for example the long absence of Edward. She said she did not want to jeopardise the balance of the movie since the story of Edward and Bella with all its chemistry was so vital to the movie’s success. Apparently she and the studio had different schedules and they wanted the movie to be released in November 2009 and she wouldn’t have been finished by then.

But what I was originally getting at was whether I liked Chris Weitz’s work so far and I don’t. “About a Boy” was one of the few movies I could hardly watch until the end and I do watch most movies until the end. Most recently the highly disturbing movie with Kim Basinger called “While she was Out”. But About a Boy I just didn’t like. “American Pie” was a funny movie and when we were teenagers definitely quite entertaining. But I think it takes a little bit more than that to transform the second Twilight book into a successful movie. But who am I to criticize his work before it’s even finished. From what I’ve heard they’re shooting scenes with Patterson where Edward will appear in Bella’s thoughts everytime she plans to do something dangerous. So that seems to be a good idea to avoid keeping Edward out of the picture for too long. We’ll just have to be patient until November. Such a long time… But since the date has been set for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince just this week for July 15th we have something to look forward to for this sommer and it’s been too long since The Order of the Phoenix so I really can’t wait. I don’t even remember how everybody looks like!

Anne DudekWhat I also wanted to talk about before I release myself into the weekend is how great House has become during the last weeks and not only because most of the other shows have yet again inexplicably disappeared into another hiatus and therefore left me with no other choice than to focus my whole anticipation towards House. No, the show has improved. I must say that I was getting a little tired of the repetitive storylines last season and even fell behind in watching the episodes which normally NEVER happens. But ever since that great episode House’s Head (or something like that) at the end of last season I was again totally into the happenings at Princeton - Plainsborough. So Kutner has committed suicide since Kal Penn got a job offer from D.C. he just couldn’t resist and therefore had to be written out of the show. The docters and especially House have to deal with the aftermath of Kutner’s death and some deal with it differently than others. House questions his mojo since he didn’t see Kutner’s death coming and he normally sees everything coming, Wilson starts over and puts Amber’s death behind him which suddenly makes her appear in House’s mind…but that’s another story and finally Chase proposes to Cameron. Oh and I almost forgot, we see Taub crying in the hall which was so heartbraking that I joined in and cryed as well. That’s what I do. The last episode ended with Amber appearing leaning on House’s piano while he’s playing and while most of us are certainly happy to have Anne Dudek back the Greys Anatomy viewers of us surely hope this won’t turn into a Denny/Izzie Ghost sex sequel. I must say I couldn’t take it. But according to the producers it won’t so let’s just stay tuned to what they have planned for us. And by the way it wouldn’t do any harm if the other shows came back right about now. Yes Greys,  Housewives, Gossip Girl, Brothers & Sisters - It’s you I’m talking about :-)

C-ya

P.S. I just read on Twilighters.org that when asked on his homepage whether he will be making the music for New Moon Carter Burwell commented that Chris Weitz has hired somebody else to compose the music for the Twilight sequels. Without having listened to the previous works of this Alexandre Desplat I am quite disappointed. I love the Score by Carter Burwell and actually am presently listening to it.

Twilight, Tudors and more

The Cullens TwilightIt’s been ages since I’ve logged on. Summer’s on the way and together with the temperature the mood increases. I’ve been sick for some months now and am gradually getting better. I lost a molar on the way which was frustrating but there are worse things so I’m just dealing with it. Of course I haven’t neglected watching TV which I had more time for than usual since I wasn’t able to run that much or do anything in this direction for that matter. To make things worse my Chinese doctor advised me to do without meat, wheat, oats or milk for a while since apparently that weakens my immune system. So there went everything I loved to eat. Obviously there is worse but still it was quite an adjustment.

Oh, yeah I’m a Twilight fan now. It was bound to happen and I watched the movie first which I liked and then I started to read the books. Now I bought both of the soundtracks which are really great and get you in the mood of the movie. And last week I finally got my Twilight dvd special. Got to support the industry with New Moon on the way. I heard the casting is final and it seems they got a great cast together. All names are listed under news on the Summit’s website I really like must of the characters and couldn’t pick out one favorite although I can particularly identify with Alice and I love Ashley Green playing her. But then again there couldn’t be more chemistry between Kristen and Rob and I also love Esme’s character played by Elizabeth Reaser. When I first saw Reaser in the Movie I was suprised of how much I liked her character and how much I disliked her character in Greys Anatomy when she played Ava. It shows what a great actress she is and I guess that’s a good actor’s intention - that you connect her person with the character she’s playing. Yesterday I watched the movie with the audio commentary by Rob Patterson, Kristen Stewart and Catherine Hardwicke. It is really worth watching and I find it so interesting to find out want happened behind the scenes, how they filmed what, the difficulties, inside jokes etc. I found this article on www.ew.com where Mandy Bierly lists all the bests parts of the audio commentary. So go ahead and read it and then watch the real thing. Afterwards you will know “everything”.

Apart from Twilight I’m also very excited about the new third season of The Tudors on Showtime. I loved the first two seasons especially because of the character of Anne Boleyn played by Natalie Dormer. Last season’s finale was just awesome and really well acted and should have won all sorts of awards. Did itby the way? I’m not sure. Since I’ve only watched the first episode of season 3 I’ve just been able to get a first impression. I like Jane and how she tries to influence King Henry into doing the right things. I heard that Stephenie Meyer originally had Henry Cavill who playes Charles Brandon in mind for the role of Edward Cullen and then later for Carlisle Cullen but he had to decline both times. I think the casting choices both for Peter Facinelli and Robert Pattinson were just right and Henry Cavill has his good place with The Tudors. The problem with historic series is that you normally know whats going to happen except if you’re not well-aquainted with that specific part of history. And is it just me or is King Henry really the must awful King there was back then. Yes I think that is a fact and he had this bad reputation and I’m just really uninformed. But since I am I can go into this season absolutely spoilerfree and excited.

And my last thought for today is this weeks “Ask Ausiello” on www.ew.com I was reminded that my dear “Privileged” has not been renewed for a second season yet and that we won’t know anything until the beginning of May. I hope they make the right decision. Should they renew the season EVERYONE has to tune in. I liked the show from the beginning although I must admit it didn’t have that much depth in the first episodes as it could have had. But over the course of the season the storylines have really evolved as have the characters and it would be such a waste to cancel the show. It is a relief that I’m not standing alone with my opinion and that Michael Ausiello plans to do whatever it takes to convince Dawn Ostroff :-))

So long!
