About Dexter, Gossip Girl and 90210

Chuck and blair gossip girl

These days I have so many shows to watch that it sometimes feels quite overwhelming. But I still manage. I love it. But everytime one show goes on hiatus I start watching another show to compensate and then the other one comes back and then another one goes on hiatus and on and on it goes that vicious circle. But whatever- I love my shows. But what I was  getting at and yes I had a point - was that the more shows I watch the demanding in regard to content I get. Since I have more than enough to watch I’m not restless anymore that this might be the last episode of one of the few great shows I’m presently watching. Don’t get me wrong I am still very appreciative of everything that I watch but as I said sometimes I have to prioritize and I view shows more critically than I used to.

One example is Gossip Girl. I love my Gossip Girl but during the last three  episodes I must shamefully confess that I fell asleep. I had to rewatch them. I can’t tell if the episodes have become weaker or if the other shows I’m watching have become stronger. The only two characters I’m really invested in are Chuck and Blair. There’s no exciting storyline with the other characters going on right now or at least the storylines are not consistent enough for my taste. For example what happened to Vanessa pining after Scott and where did Georgina go? One day we see Jenny ruling her school or at least trying to and the next day she’s MIA for almost the whole episode. I’m not even a big fan of the Dan/Olivia relationship. Dan was semi-interesting when he was dating Serena or hooking up with Georgina but Hillary Duff doesn’t seem to bring that much more dynamic into the story. What I like is what’s going on between Blair and Serena. That’s halfway realistic (not that I’m looking for realistic storylines on GG but still) and happens to all longterm friendships when two people just grow into different directions. I love how well Chuck knows Blair. He demonstrates it often and he totally gets her. Its admirable that Chuck and Blair becoming a couple hasn’t made them less interesting characters for the show. On the contrary they still rule the show in my opinion.

I love Dexter on Showtime. This a show I look forward to every week. This season is a strong one. I love the Trinity storyline. What a great idea to have Dexter become aquainted with another serial killer who is  much further along in his “killing career” than he is. Naturally he is fascinated but he also wants to take revenge for what Trinity did to his sister and to Frank Lundy and not to forget to all the victims over the last years. I must say the way Trinity was preparing for his next victims and how he killed them in earlier episodes really made me shiver. It was so scary. I read on www.ew.com that the next episode will take us where we haven’t been before. I can’t wait. Go Dexter!!!

Another show I have come to appreciate is 90210. While I never watched it last year after the Pilot I tried it again this season and I was hooked. It’s nothing demanding but its fun and easy to watch. I wouldn’t compare it to the original show but I tend to watch shows that are based in warm locations with beautiful and rich people and drama drama drama. What I didn’t get this week was why Sasha lied about being pregnant. It didn’t make any sense. She did a complete 180 there. I also totally knew that Jasper WAS a drug dealer. It was probably intended that viewers know but still…I knew. Of course he had to sell drugs to Ade. That was also a little predictable but who’s complaining. Talking of shows playing in California with rich and beautiful people: I am currently rewatching the entire season of “The OC” and while I cannot name any other show that constantly dropped annoying characters into the storyline - at least from season 1 to season 3 and yes I’m talking about you Oliver, Theresa, Johnny… just to name some I still very much miss the show and I am still quitly protesting. It is unfortunately not possible for my to boycott the CW since they have Ian Somerhalder and as it happens I love this hot vampire.

No I don’t think that I’ve mentioned this before…
