Greys Anatomy Season 5 Finale

Hello again. I’ve become obsessed about reading reviews on www.tripadvisor.com. I’m planning this trip to Virginia, North and South Carolina and there are so many hotels that I’m totally caught with reading the reviews about all of them. Everytime I think I’ve finally found the perfect hotel I find something that doesn’t fit and I have to start all over again. Although reading the reviews of other travellers is so much fun it is also time consuming. So one evening I’ve been doing research on Myrtle Beach for hours (there are so many hotels!!!) and then I had the strangest dream. I had a little pet cockroach called “Mertle” which I held very dear and took for walks… until my mother squashed it with some sort of box. In the morning I concluded that this dream was the result of reading to many Myrtle beach reviews and some complaints about bed bugs… I know I should quit but at least I booked one hotel already. Yeah
Ok now to more important issues. Last week we all watched the Greys Anatomy finale consisting of two episodes. The first called “Here’s to the future” and the second one named “Now or Never” Since there are 1 Million recaps online already (I know I’m sooo slow) I just wanted to comment on my favorite parts and what I liked/disliked about this finale. First of all we all have to wait 5 months until we know if and who will survive. George and/or Izzy. We all know Shonda Rhimes had planned something like this but I was seriously surprised when the Guy who had pushed that Girl out of the way of the bus turned out to be George. I didn’t even get it when he made Meredith write “007″ on a piece of paper. Yeah I know totally dumb of me. I was like “why I Meredith getting so upset over this guy?” Well anyway he crashed in the end and so did Izzy and now we wait.
I loved this week’s guest appearances. First Liza Weil - yey! I haven’t seen her since Gilmore Girls and she was awesome. She played a fellow cancer patient of Izzie who was at SG to get her Cancer therapy (I forgot the name of the treatment) which apperently worked more succesfully than surgery - at least until epiosde 2 where she crashed and made Izzie change her mind about having surgery. I thought she was perfect and she had enough lines to remind us of how much we missed her. Although she was of course much nicer and pleasant than Paris in GG so that was a change.
Then we got to see (and hear!) Zach Gilford a.k.a Matt Saracen from Friday Night Lights and I noticed that the guy could actually talk and everything and everyone that comes from FNL is automatically adored by me. He was a patient who had a pain syndrome in the leg (welcome to the club) and wanted it amputated so that he could return to Irak to resume his work there. He was also an important character since he made Owen think that maybe he too should return to Irak until Christina told him what she thought of that and George had the idea to enlist in the army and work in Irak as a doctor which resulted in several other scenes - interventions, dead George, Callie and Arizona fighting etc.
Debra Mooney was also a guest character but I don’t really know her so we’re skipping her. Last but not least there was Shannon Lucio (Lindsay from The O.C. - Since I still love and miss The O.C. and although her time with the show was rather short I was happy to see her. I loved the short hair. Much better! She was the girl George had saved from the bus. She hadn’t paid much attention to him when he had smiled at her at a traffic light and then he had saved her from the bus and she was so overwhelmed by this that she figured he must be her knight in shining armour and that she loved him. ( I thought only I was so disillusioned, well) So she waited by his side until he crashed. They would have made such a cute couple. I don’t like that George is leaving the show - if he’s leaving the show.
I liked Bailey’s storylines - in the first part where the Chief (a.k.a Santa) shows off his new surgical robot and lets Bailey do a few surgeries with it. She was so excited and happy which we don’t get to see too often so it was hilarious to watch her. He did this of course to lure her away from peds what for a short moment worked. But then Arizona countered by showing Bailey a child that had survived a difficult treatment and surgery and was now getting better. In the end that was was Bailey needed to see. In the second part she received the fellowship for peds and the Chief had signed it off and all was fine but suddenly Bailey hesitated. It turned out that Tucker ( her husband) had given her an ultimatum - him or the fellowship. Aww I want a husband like that - don’t we all? Anyway Bailey confessed to the Chief that the decision was clear but that she had to get used to the fact that she was going to be a single working mom. I loved this scene.
Also smartly written was how Izzie only partially regained her memory after the surgery and somehow her short-term memory was shot. She kept forgetting what people were telling her and Alex plastered her whole room with post-it’s with possible answers to her questions and other facts. I thought that was really cute. Towards the end Alex from all the stress had a short blackout and Izzie and he fought and he sort of told her that he wouldn’t have married her if he hadn’t thought that she was going to die. Then they waited for her to forget which she didn’t and until she crashed some time later everyone thought she was going to be fine. She made up with Alex of course and I liked Christina’s smirk when she realized Izzie hadn’t forgotten. I like Christina a lot right now. She’s shown a more human side during the last episodes and that suits the character well.
Oh yes and Derek and Meredith weren’t able to get married again with Izzie dying and all but at least they got to say their vows to each other which was really quite touching. Will they ever make it to the altar or at least to city hall? We won’t know anything for the next five months and so
We wait!
