Some Kind of Miracle

Meredith GreyAfter the last episode of the Greys three-parter I needed a few days to digest before writing something down here. But there’s no hurry anyway because as I already mentioned before the next Greys episode won’t be on until March 15th. No O.C. either so I guess I will have to adjust my Thursdays a little.

I was expecting a lot when I turned on the TV, probably because all the previous episodes were just exceeding all expectations and each other. I expected to become an emotional wreck again and just cry myself all through the epi but this week my eyes stayed dry with only a few exceptions. Don’t get me wrong- this was still a good episode (27,3 Million viewers - this speaks for itself) but I’m still happy this storyline has come to an end. Possibly I’m just exhausted from all the drama and maybe it’s not such a bad thing not to have cried throughout the entire show.

So, Meredith is back among the living with an “Ouch” and without the slightest damages. I liked Verne Gay’s article on Mer’s return. Her mother is dead and she will have to deal with that but at least she got closure when she had this moment with her back in the afterlife where her mother tells her that she is everthing but ordinary and that she shouldn’t be there in “heaven” or where ever with her. As she said to Derek in the end - she will be ok.

Most of us know there are miracles and all but I would like to ask a real doctor whether it is possible for a patient who’s heart didn’t beat for a couple of hours to recover within a short period of time and to be able to talk and focus without difficulties. But then again this is only a TV Show - a great one nevertheless but perhaps not everything has to make perfect sense and be totally realistic.

I was slightly torn about “Some Kind of Miracle” since I got bored of Meredith’s ”afterlife” scenes pretty fast and as much as I was glad to see Denny or Dylan again and although I get the point of why all these characters appeared I felt reminded of an episode of “Ghost Whisperer” gone bad. Bonny and her recurring bleeding out of the stomach attacks were too much for me and her aggresive tone towards Meredith was kind of annoying. And then when the hospital floors start to flood I actually expected Melinda Gordan to appear. I fast-forwarded through those scenes when I watched it the second time.

While the ghosts were trying to save and encourage Meredith there were brilliant scenes involving brilliant acting happening back in Seattle Grace. Patrick Dempsey  showed us some excellent scenes especially when he confronts Ellis about breaking  Mer and afterwards blames himself in front of Addison for not being able to save her. Bailey is constantly amazing. I love her and she convinces in every scene she’s in. She deserves every award she received these previous months and moreover she should become the Chief of Surgery.

I felt for Christina watching her suffering while dealing with the prospect of losing her “person” and wandering through a 99c store buying everything in reach. When she gets back to the hospital and screams at Webber, Bailey and Burke to give resuscitating Meredith one more try and then staying at her side while she wakes up- the tears came and I turned all emotional again. Which was funny because right then I received a business call and I was still sobbing when I talked to this person and he was like ” Am I interrupting something?” Don’t people know not to call during this holy hour by now?

The scene in the end between Addison and Sloan reminded me of “40 Days and 40 nights” and I loved how Addison says “who am I going to have sex with?” and how the camera cuts to Alex right after she says that. Or when the Chief says goodbye to Ellis - These were all perfect moments which make me hope that the next 2 and a half weeks go by fast and we get to see a lot more of this fabulous show. Here’s a good summary on everything thats worth mentioning about this episode.

Oh and I can’t imagine Greys without Isaiah Washington and I seriously hope they they work out all the issues and keep him on the show.
