Gilmore Girls - almost like it used to be

Rory LoganIts late already and I’ve worked all day but I just have to spare some minutes for my once so favorite TV show Gilmore Girls which after so many episodes of predictable and boring storylines picked up today and turned out to be surprisingly entertaining and emotional and in my opinion one of if not the best episode of this season.

Apart from some very long and unnecessary dialogues between Logan and Rory at Emily and Richard’s house the dialogues where captivating and brought tears to my eyes for the first time in this season. We all know by now that Emily would react the way she did in the hospital cancelling and rescheduling their plans and buying a life time of fish supplies. All throughout the episode I was waiting for her break-down. When it happenened I loved that the writers didn’t ruin this scene by letting mother and daughter hug but let Lorelai steal tissues for her mother from the hospital gift shop. All scenes with the three generations of Gilmores in the Hospital were well written and I’m totally with Karen Valby that “I’d rather be in Philadelphia” was finally very special. By the way I loved that Sookie instantly started to cook as if there was no tomorrow.

I totally disliked Christopher in this Episode and in the one before that for that matter. I hate that he’s so unreasonably jealous. Lorelai gives him absolutely no reason to be. And I think he’s being way too rude towards Luke. When Luke describes Lorelai the compilation of fish dishes he brought for her Christopher finally honours everyone with his appearance and tells him to beat it.

What I don’t get and what seems so untypical for Lorelai’s character is how she reacts apologizing for Luke being there and that she wasn’t the one that called him and asked him to be in the hospital with her. In that moment I wasn’t sure who I was mad at more. Christopher for being a total idiot or Lorelai for not standing up for her friend who was there for her.

In this scene I hardly recognised Lorelai - she turns into a whiny submissive woman and all her confidence seems to have disappeared. I get that she’s trying to save their marriage but that doesn’t mean she has to apologize for Luke being a part of her life. I hate that Christopher does not even want them speaking to each other. This is so extremely childish of him - that and not being there for his wife and daughter instantly when Richard has the heart attack.
