After the last episode of the Greys three-parter I needed a few days to digest before writing something down here. But there’s no hurry anyway because as I already mentioned before the next Greys episode won’t be on until March 15th. No O.C. either so I guess I will have to adjust my Thursdays a little.
I was expecting a lot when I turned on the TV, probably because all the previous episodes were just exceeding all expectations and each other. I expected to become an emotional wreck again and just cry myself all through the epi but this week my eyes stayed dry with only a few exceptions. Don’t get me wrong- this was still a good episode (27,3 Million viewers - this speaks for itself) but I’m still happy this storyline has come to an end. Possibly I’m just exhausted from all the drama and maybe it’s not such a bad thing not to have cried throughout the entire show.
So, Meredith is back among the living with an “Ouch” and without the slightest damages. I liked Verne Gay’s article on Mer’s return. Her mother is dead and she will have to deal with that but at least she got closure when she had this moment with her back in the afterlife where her mother tells her that she is everthing but ordinary and that she shouldn’t be there in “heaven” or where ever with her. As she said to Derek in the end - she will be ok.
Most of us know there are miracles and all but I would like to ask a real doctor whether it is possible for a patient who’s heart didn’t beat for a couple of hours to recover within a short period of time and to be able to talk and focus without difficulties. But then again this is only a TV Show - a great one nevertheless but perhaps not everything has to make perfect sense and be totally realistic.
I was slightly torn about “Some Kind of Miracle” since I got bored of Meredith’s ”afterlife” scenes pretty fast and as much as I was glad to see Denny or Dylan again and although I get the point of why all these characters appeared I felt reminded of an episode of “Ghost Whisperer” gone bad. Bonny and her recurring bleeding out of the stomach attacks were too much for me and her aggresive tone towards Meredith was kind of annoying. And then when the hospital floors start to flood I actually expected Melinda Gordan to appear. I fast-forwarded through those scenes when I watched it the second time.
While the ghosts were trying to save and encourage Meredith there were brilliant scenes involving brilliant acting happening back in Seattle Grace. Patrick Dempsey showed us some excellent scenes especially when he confronts Ellis about breaking Mer and afterwards blames himself in front of Addison for not being able to save her. Bailey is constantly amazing. I love her and she convinces in every scene she’s in. She deserves every award she received these previous months and moreover she should become the Chief of Surgery.
I felt for Christina watching her suffering while dealing with the prospect of losing her “person” and wandering through a 99c store buying everything in reach. When she gets back to the hospital and screams at Webber, Bailey and Burke to give resuscitating Meredith one more try and then staying at her side while she wakes up- the tears came and I turned all emotional again. Which was funny because right then I received a business call and I was still sobbing when I talked to this person and he was like ” Am I interrupting something?” Don’t people know not to call during this holy hour by now?
The scene in the end between Addison and Sloan reminded me of “40 Days and 40 nights” and I loved how Addison says “who am I going to have sex with?” and how the camera cuts to Alex right after she says that. Or when the Chief says goodbye to Ellis - These were all perfect moments which make me hope that the next 2 and a half weeks go by fast and we get to see a lot more of this fabulous show. Here’s a good summary on everything thats worth mentioning about this episode.
Oh and I can’t imagine Greys without Isaiah Washington and I seriously hope they they work out all the issues and keep him on the show.

So it’s over.
Fox aired the last episode of the O.C. and man, was I a mess. I started to cry haveway through it and didn’t stop until 30 minutes afterwards. Oh no, excuse me, the crying started right from the beginning when Phantom Planet sang “California” after 3 minutes into the epi I started sobbing uncontrollably.
“The Ends Not Near It’s Here“ was pure perfection, emotional and worlds better than expected and apart from the crying gave us so many happy moments and memories. I loved every scene and every character and it is to be acknowledged that the famous bagel slicer got so much screen time- as did the infinity pools - I love infinity pools.
I loved that the episode jumped forward into the future several times during the end because this is exactly what we fans need to see while coping with the loss of this fabulous show. The creaters managed to put everything in this episode that is lovable about this show even if only for a few seconds. They even let Summer say “ew” one last time. The incredible soundtrack accompanying the pictures of the past while Ryan was saying goodbye to the house and those of the future in the end montage - it all was just overwhelming.
Everything turned out fine. Seth lets Summer go to join G.e.o.r.ge and she comes back to marry him afterwards- How romantic. I love Bullit and the fact that he can fly people around in one of his jets and just buy a house but it is definitely the right choice when Julie decides to stay single for a while and to study. She even gets her Diploma in something which is good for her. And Kaitlin who is just sweet and hilarious is right there with her. The creaters have really done a good job with her character. When she sits on the kitchen counter and imitates Sandy. So funny!
Several times we see Ryan scenes from when he came to Newport and it’s wonderful to see how he evolved over the years. He actually talks now and is extremely hot and sometimes he even makes a joke. When we see him leaving the construction site (he has obviously become an architect) and he notices the little troubled boy I was sooo happy because Ryan’s turned into a little Sandy over the years. Sandy starts to teach Law at Berkeley which is so the perfect job for him.
Sophie Rose Cohen and Julie’s son were absolutly cute weren’t they??
And I guess the creators ended The O.C. for good when they moved the Cohens to Berkeley. This triggered another sobbing attack inside me since this move was so significant and final and ended the whole Newport era.
Obviously one of the grieving steps is anger and so here we go: I know that shows should stop before they turn bad but I think they could have given it 1 or 2 more seasons because the show already had its bad seasons and got over it and the fourth season turned out to be the best. And what do you expect if you put a show into the same time slot like Greys or CSI and even under these difficult circumstances the O.C. managed to keep and to regain an audience. (I just read Alan Sepinwall’s article on saying Farewell to The O.C. - very informative).
But after grief comes acceptance. I thank the creators and cast for a unique and unforgettable show.
The O.C. You will be missed

I certainly don’t know whether the news about a Greys Anatomy spinoff is a good or a bad thing. Kate Walsh definitely has the skills to pull it off. In fact I guess if one of the Greys cast members can do it it’s probably her. The spinoff who’s 2-hour pilot will most likely be aired in May will star and focus on Addison Montgomery (without the Shepherd) as the neonatal surgeon played by Kate Walsh and will be written by Shonda Rhimes. Then I just read this article by Mike Bruno that Taye Diggs has been tapped to star in the spinoff.
I think there’s something to Annie’s theorie that Rhimes will introduce Diggs within the episodes of the remaining season and to transitionally let him star in the Addison spinoff. Then she can quietly write out Washington at the end of the season and then replace one afro american with another should the spinoff not hit it off.
This theorie might be overly conspirational and I would be quite upset if Rhimes wrote Washington out of the show but it still makes you think. What I consider more logical though would be if she put Washington in the spinoff if she wanted to get rid of him. I was wondering about spinoffs. Are they always such a good idea? It seems logical for producers and writers to want to transfer the success of one show to another but are spinoffs such a guaranteed money source? Isn’t a certain amount of risk involved when you write a spinoff and it fails, doesn’t that put the whole series under a bad light? I will get into this and report afterwards.

I just startet to watch “The Holiday” with Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet wenn this first monologue by Winslet can be heard and I just had to interrupt the movie and write it down.
„…and then there’s another kind of love, the cruellest kind, the one that almost kills its victims. It’s called unrequited love. Of that I am an expert. Most love stories are about people who fall in love with each other but what about the rest of us – what about our stories – those of us who fall in love alone. We are the victims of the one-sided affair, we are the cursed of the loved ones, we are the un-loved ones. The walking wounded, the handicapped without the advantage of a great parking space.
Yes - I can relate. The worst Christmases, the worst Birthdays, New Years Eves. These years that I have been in love have been the darkest days of my life. When you love someone who does not and will not love you back…”
I’ve also felt like this in the past and it was weird for somebody to speak it out in the beginning of a movie.

Tonight is the last episode of the The O.C. We have been prepared for this day for some weeks now but it still hurts and I will celebrate this last episode and think about all the nice memories I have. I wanted to write down a list of my favorite scenes, episodes, songs etc. but I will do that after the series finale. I found a nice listing on EW just now and will share my own here shortly.

This is the week where the last O.C. episode ever airs and this is also the week where we find out whether Meredith is dead for good or how they will bring her back. So I am equally sad and excited. Most of the drama in the second to last O.C. episode “The
Night Moves” probably came from the fact that it was the second to last episode of the series and that I watched it after Meredith had flatlined (Btw I liked this post on “Drowning on Dry Land”).
I just read Jonathan Toomey’s Review on “The Night Moves” and it pretty much coincides with what I thought about the episode. Ryan was so brave and mature with his earthquake injury and all and Seth really kept it together most of the time. I was slightly annoyed that the homeless guy (forgot the name) bargained himself the Cohen’s SUV for nothing and it surprised me that they could put a cast on a bunny’s foot. I’ve had a several bunnies and I’ve never seen them break a foot let alone wear a cast.
Taylor and her mother as well as Frank and Kaitlin easily made up in the end which might be a sign that the writers want to dissolve all disputes before the show ends. Also an indication for this was that everything turned out fine with Kirsten’s baby and with Ryan’s insury. The whole storyline felt like they were wrapping it up. What remains is the totally destroyed Cohen residence.
I haven’t spoiled for the series finale so I will be waiting for Thursday in total anticipation. What I noticed but what could have also been pure hallucination on my side was that Seth and Summer acted a little distant to each other. Did they shoot this episode after Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody had broken up?
Btw I just read on TV.com that there will be a break of at least two weeks after the Greys Anatomy 3-parter. I quit smoking a few years ago so that I could be in control, live healthier save money etc. When they take one of your favourite TV shows of the air or withhold episodes from you it briefly feels like it did when I first quit the smokes. Unbearable!

After an overwhelming second episode of the Greys Anatomy three parter followed by the second last earthquake aftermath episode of the O.C. I was exhausted. I had to eat lemon sorbet and cool down. A few hours later the impressions have formed in my head and are ready to be released.
To “Drowning on Dry Land:” I must say that this episode was one of the best episodes so far. And I’m not alone with my opinion. But on to this dumb dumb and somewhat creepy girl! (they didn`t name her) How could she just return to the center of the accident site and not mention to anyone that the docter who was just taking care of her had been kicked into the ocean. I know she`s in shock and everything but come on! I wouldn`t have been so patient with her the way Derek was when he tried to figure out where Mer was.
Oh yes - Meredith is dead for now and chatting with Izzy`s fiancee. She looked pretty blue- blue like the color. But I do not think that she will stay dead since they would have to rename the show because otherwise it would be called: “…Anatomy” Am I right?! I had the waterworks going on all through the epi and when all the interns were paged and Derek sat outside of the OR I was heartbroken and sobbing so loud my neighbor was probably wondering what the heck had happened to me. The expressions on the faces of the interns as well as the residents and the Chief were unforgettable.
Izzy was spectacular and she is so going to chose Neurosurgery as her speciality. Nevertheless I thought that her speech outside of the OR was slightly over the top and her remark about the butter as funny as it was in the previous epi was totally out of place in this situation as was her telling George that it was a mistake to marry Callie.
Alex and Mc Steamy were incredibly hot again. They have so much more potential. I loved how McSteamy sat down next to Derek who was not so much “the knight in shiny whatever…” as he had promised he`d be. Alex sensing Addison`s loneliness was so cute when he told her that he would notice should she disappear.
And then finally I pondered about what some people have said about Greys turning into an imitation of E.R. using ultra catastrophic events in order to achieve greatness. I think with these brilliant and outstanding characters and writers this show doesn`t have to fear anything except more and more viewers
More to The O.C. in a little bit.

Oh how I love evenings like yesterday’s. I had taped the newest epis of 7th Heaven, Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars and there was no stopping me. I even watched one Twin Peaks episode in the end sort of as a bedtime sweet. Although I do think that 7th Heaven has lost a lot of its original appeal and was kind of dragged into an eleventh season it still serves its purpose and brings me 1 hour of happy time. I think Martin is really hot and should get more screen time. That would be very much appreciated.
Both Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars were very solid episodes. I liked that Lorelai stopped whining and finally stepped up to Christopher. We knew where their discussions were heading and I must say that the scenes involving Christopher and Lorelai were very sensitively written and I even felt sorry for Christopher in the end because he was so understanding although he knew that their relationship was over. I hope they don’t instantly bring back together Lorelai and Luke but give her some alone time in order for her to process everything. I’m glad this storyline has come to an end- it felt wrong all along.
The more I liked Lauren Graham’s character the less I approve of what they did to Rory’s role. Out of nowhere and without a warning she becomes this silly and stammering 12 year old telling her bf she googled the temp professor. How unnecessary was that? Sorry but I’m on Karen’s side about Logan being Mr Big Business. He’s been out of college for what, 4 months? The strongest character this week was definately Paris who is like the best friend ever to Rory and she’s so hilarious. Speaking of best friend - where’s Lane and what kind of rotten friend is Rory for not visiting her or maybe the producers are just not showing it.
All in all a good episode.
I think I will write about Veronica Mars next week when the plots have evolved a little bit more.It was a pleasure to see Wallace again - if only for 15 seconds and I was surprised to see Veronica bake but on the other hand she is probably capable of doing anything.
I just read that Parker Posey will star as a lead in Amy Sherman- Palladino’s The Return of Jezebel James. Read more about it here. I think she’s hot.
I just found this site and I totally agree. Read “Dear Women of Gilmore Girls & Veronica Mars“

I was just thinking about Valentines Day and that I do not like this day at all. This might sound bitter but I’ve always hated it even in Junior High School and it didn’t have anything to do with me being single or being in a relationship. It’s just a stupid Holiday.
When you’re in a relationship you feel pressured into doing something special with your partner although you shouldn’t need a specific day for that and if you’re single (happily single and not looking) this holiday makes you feel like someone should at least be giving you some chocolate even if its just your brother and even if you don’t like chocolate because if they don’t it means they don’t care about you which isn’t true. I simply think that holidays which subtly pressure you into doing or not doing something even if it’s just to eat chocolate are absolutely unnecessary. I for myself can say that I always want presents single or attached and not just on V-day.
Oh and thanks to Google I’ve been having this craving for chocolate covered strawberries all day. It started with the strawberries and by afternoon I had strategically gone over all eatables that might be tasteful when covered in chocolate or when deep-fried for that matter. Yes, this is where my mind goes when work bores me.
Anyway I’m very much looking forward to my date with Veronica Mars and the Gilmores tonight. We will be having pasta and wine…..

Congrats to Greys Anatomy for being the nights most watched TV Show last Thursday. I hadn’t spoiled at all and watched the first part of three totally expectant and unbiased. I taped it and had to interrupt though and start over again late at night since something felt wrong - I hadn’t prepared the obligatory platter of food which accompanies every episode of Greys because I had promised to make my dad dinner at my parents house. Doesn’t everybody agree that a great meal can even enhance your tv experience? I am very convinced that food and tv belong together and that one without the other is simply imperfect.
Anyway to the episode. Since I didn’t know that a ferry ( just learned that they call it ferry and not ferry boat) would be colliding with a container vessel and since the show had been moved from its Sunday slot to Thursdays I assumed that there wouldn’t be a “Super bowl” style episode. So I just enjoyed the first 10 minutes of the show totally clueless and considered almost all scenes extremely hilarious. For example:
Meredith: “I did not try to drown myself in the bathtub”
Izzy: “I ate everything out of the fridge last night, everything, including a tub of butter - theres no judgement here…”
Memorable was also the scene in the elevator with all the hot doctors and Richard’s new hair do (Addison calling Sloan a Man Whore) - or Christina’s face in the locker room when she tries to tell Meredith she’s getting hitched. Bailey’s (who’s hair was different this epi) and Christina’s face when George gets reprehended by Callie. I was cracking up the whole time.
Shonda claims that this episode turned out the way it did because she had the flu and because it’s this time of year. I must say I am 100% less productive when I’m ill. I love you Shonda. Although many have remarked that Greys does not need these kind of “E.R.” catastrophic event storylines to make it great I couldn’t help but still love this episode. I share Joel Keller’s opinion that if the writers hold up this level we’re in for many more pretty brilliant episodes this year.
It was quite refreshing that this episode partly took place outside of the hospital walls. And while the docters had to deal with this catastrophic event symbolism was very big this time. Christina’s fear of making her marriage plans public, of possibly missing out if she gets married is nicely illustrated when she gets left behind when the others head out to the accident site or the little girl as a metaphor for Meredith feeling lost is almost too obvious. Also in the beginning Meredith goes under water by choice just to be kicked into the water by an insured passenger in the end. I was a little annoyed when the girl didn’t call for help instantly but this probably also had its meaning.
What can be noted is that Meredith is still very dark and twisty and for now it seems to stay that way. Alex is more and more showing his soft side (how awful did that pregnant woman look???) and Addison dyed her hair blonde after Derek left her…oh and Izzy misses George.
When I learned that “Walk on Water” was supposed to be the first episode of a three parter I seriously considered waiting until the last episode has been aired and then watch all three together…yeah I wasn’t strong enough for that so the punishment will be to wait and wait until next Thursday and then continue to wait after that…

First of all- I just love The O.C. right now and the fact that Tailor has become such an enrichment to the show and sorry to all those Mischa fans: I love the show more than ever since they killed of Marissa’s character and gave Taylor Townsend a regular part especially ever since she and Ryan have been dating. I love how she manipulates and stalks her boyfriend in such a endearing way.
She brings so much new energy into the show and obviously into Ryan who has been hotter and more talkative than ever and please, to think about binding a book of Taylor’s favorite poems for her birthday is such a cute and thoughful side of him we never got the chance to see while he was dating/not-dating Marissa. But enough on Ryans incredible hottness since Annie Barret has covered that in detail and you can read all about it here.
During breakfast at the beginning of the episode I just had to sympathy with Ryan when Taylor is going on and on about “leaping into the void” and “jumping into the unknown” whereas we all know she’s heading into the direction of planning their college future together and pushing Ryan into saying that he loves her. We know that but Ryan obviously is clueless about everything but how fabulous his croissant is. I thought this scene was hilarious.
I cannot help but wonder whether in real life a guy would undergo so much stress and pushing by his girl- friend especially so early in the relationsship. Ryan must really love Taylor and then again this is only a TV show.
I’m still not that convinced of Frank Atwood and I thought those clown porn magazines Kaitlin planted in his “convic bag” were just as creepy as he is. I must admit though that I didn’t have the slightest idea that clown porn existed until this episode. I totally share Jennifer Sankowski’s view on the creepiness of clowns. And as for Frank we might as well just let him and Julie do whatever they want for the remaining two epis.
The scenes involving the other characters such as Kaitlin where really entertaining. I thought the Summer-Seth storyline was a little low but I love Summer and Taylor together. I wouldn’t have thought that Kirsten could suddenly get so concerned about all the shallowness and stupidness of the Newpsies since she’s been living there all her live and it didn’t bother her when she had Seth. Hopefully she and the baby are ok after the earthquake.
Oh and just to throw this into the room: I hate Fox very much right now and as much as I’m enjoying these last episodes of the series, they are always sorrounded by an air of sadness. But I have accepted its fate by now and will enjoy the last two post earthquake episodes.

Its late already and I’ve worked all day but I just have to spare some minutes for my once so favorite TV show Gilmore Girls which after so many episodes of predictable and boring storylines picked up today and turned out to be surprisingly entertaining and emotional and in my opinion one of if not the best episode of this season.
Apart from some very long and unnecessary dialogues between Logan and Rory at Emily and Richard’s house the dialogues where captivating and brought tears to my eyes for the first time in this season. We all know by now that Emily would react the way she did in the hospital cancelling and rescheduling their plans and buying a life time of fish supplies. All throughout the episode I was waiting for her break-down. When it happenened I loved that the writers didn’t ruin this scene by letting mother and daughter hug but let Lorelai steal tissues for her mother from the hospital gift shop. All scenes with the three generations of Gilmores in the Hospital were well written and I’m totally with Karen Valby that “I’d rather be in Philadelphia” was finally very special. By the way I loved that Sookie instantly started to cook as if there was no tomorrow.
I totally disliked Christopher in this Episode and in the one before that for that matter. I hate that he’s so unreasonably jealous. Lorelai gives him absolutely no reason to be. And I think he’s being way too rude towards Luke. When Luke describes Lorelai the compilation of fish dishes he brought for her Christopher finally honours everyone with his appearance and tells him to beat it.
What I don’t get and what seems so untypical for Lorelai’s character is how she reacts apologizing for Luke being there and that she wasn’t the one that called him and asked him to be in the hospital with her. In that moment I wasn’t sure who I was mad at more. Christopher for being a total idiot or Lorelai for not standing up for her friend who was there for her.
In this scene I hardly recognised Lorelai - she turns into a whiny submissive woman and all her confidence seems to have disappeared. I get that she’s trying to save their marriage but that doesn’t mean she has to apologize for Luke being a part of her life. I hate that Christopher does not even want them speaking to each other. This is so extremely childish of him - that and not being there for his wife and daughter instantly when Richard has the heart attack.
